Overview

Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act ("ACA") is the civil rights provision prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability in certain health programs and activities. This new federal rule became effective on October 17, 2016.
Many of the provisions in Section 1557 already exist in other longstanding federal non-discrimination rules such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination Act of 1973 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, but Section 1557 applies these requirements specifically to health care programs and activities. This webinar will provide an overview of Section 1557 and what your organization needs to do in order to be in compliance.

Why should you attend this webinar?

If you organization receives payments from Medicare Parts A, D or Medicaid, then Section 1557 will apply and your organization must be in compliance. If your organization's only source of federal funds is from Medicare Part B, then this new rule will not apply to you. This presentation will provide interpretation on the new requirements and practical guidance for how to comply.
